Beginner's Tips #2

Flag Colors -

Yellow = You
Green = League/Ally League
Red / Red & White = Personal War Declaration - Red & White means you're still in the 8 hr waiting period
Blue = Neutral League
Purple = Hostile League

A player can declare war on another player by clicking on their city and choosing 'Declare War'. There is an 8 hr waiting period before the attacking can begin, and then you have 48 hrs to attack. Hostile leagues can be attacked at any time.

Every day at 16:00 Kingory time, the servers go down for maintenance for 3 minutes. Be sure to not have any marauds hitting at or during that time. Wilderness randomize their levels during the maintenance, and you could go from facing a few hundred soldiers to several thousand.

Attack Strategy: Archers are your best friends. The battle strategy that has worked best for me with the least loss (while manually handling a battle) is to use archers to pick off all the opposing soldiers I can. So I will send the archers forward and backward until the enemy is too close to use the archers, then send out swords/pikes, etc.

You can change auto-battle strategy by clicking Troops Combat Tactic in the Expedition Mission Control screen. Defensive/anti-maraud/anti-scout auto strategy can be changed by clicking the Rally Spot then Defensive Tactic.

Troops consume twice the amount of food when garrisoning/gathering in wilderness.

PvE Arena (once one has livery)

Tips:

When first starting out, choose to promote yourself to Livery first. This gives you a shot at winning the player contest, allows you to found another city, and also opens the arena to you.

When your city comes out of protection, the EPIC quests will open to you. Under EPIC quests is a section called Contribute Resources. If you accept the rewards, you will LOSE resources in exchange for influence. DO NOT trade all of your resources away...I did this, and so did quite a few others. It's a real pain. -_- If you have extra resources to get rid of, fine, but be sure you know what you're doing!

I'd suggest at least 12 cottages and 5 or 6 barracks in your first city.

In case of maraud: Use the market to store your resources (set to league only & highest price), and WARN the league to not buy it. Or, f you have enough troops, send them out into the wilderness with all your resources. If you have no resources and no troops in the city, the maraud can't hurt you (aside from giving you 1 unpatriotic point). The market method is not fool-proof, I've seen a couple of people lose some resources that way. But, generally, it works well. Just train lots of labors to have the option of sending everything out of the city eventually.

NPC food levels are determined by the city's lvl. Lvl 3 NPC has 3mil food, Lvl 7 NPC has 7mil food. NPC cities do NOT regenerate. YT cities are easiest to hit.

Train archers. Then train more archers. And then more archers until they come out of your ears. My personal favorite is archers & swords, although some swear by archers & pikes. Rookies make good meat tankers (when conquering a city, for instance :)).

It is best to let your troops gather for at least 2 hours at a time. I gather with 200 labors, 200 rookies, 50 pikes, 50 swords, 100 archers, 5 rickshaws, 5 ballistae. Yes, ballistae seem to help. lol

Tax game: This is when you put the tax rate on 10%, wait for the allegiance to reach 90, turn down tax rate to 100%, and leave it until allegiance falls to 50 or so. This can be 'dangerous', particularly if you are tired and forget to readjust your tax rate before leaving Kingory; several members in my s3 league (including myself) managed to lose our populations this way. Another member in my league did the math and figured one actually loses gold using this method. My advice is to have tax on 30% in your main city, and set up one of your extra cities as a cash farm. In other words, have even more cottages than normal and leave tax on 50%.

Nov 28, 2009

  • Arena Nights: Arena Night starts at 8am Kingory time today (Nov 28). If you have at least livery, come join us, and get free influence even if you don't have a large army. The more people who join in, the faster we can reach the top. :) Don't worry if you don't know how to do arena, we will help you.
  • League Contest: We are doing VERY well with accumulating influence for the League Contest. Thank you so much for all you've been doing and contributing! Our overall goal is 20 million influence, and we have already bypassed 9 million. (increasing influence)
  • Spying: FYI to everyone, we do not condone spying at all. We will never place spies in other leagues. If we find someone is spying, they will be promptly dismissed.
  • Soliciting Members from Other Leagues to Join: Also, please do not do this. If they approach you with an interest in joining us, that's okay, but please do not go soliciting them. We don't like it when others do it to us, so refrain from doing it to them.
  • Problems with Allied League Members: If you are having a problem with a member from one of our allied leagues, please mail one of the officers, elders, Remare, or me.

How to Increase Influence

  • Complete Growth & Routine Quests -- Many of these give influence as a reward.
  • Complete EPIC/Contribute Quests -- The Contribute Resources/Troops/Jewelry quests exchange a number of these items for a certain amount of influence. However please be careful to not trade ALL of your resources for influence; it's not good to have tons of influence and not be able construct buildings or train troops.
  • Train soldiers -- You get 1 pt of influence for every soldier you train.
  • Maraud Wilderness/Cities -- You get influence from battles.
  • Arena -- I haven't tried this one yet, but I'm told it gives lots of influence. ( PvE (PvP & PVE labeled) , PvP Arena, & Arena FAQ )

Nov 20, 2009

Since the profanity filter on Kingory is crazy, I'm posting information here. :P

1) Once you reach govt level 5 and the EPIC quests are open to you, be careful about doing the "Contribute ----" quests (contribute resources, troops, etc). They trade what you have for influence. A few of us didn't realize it at first and lost quite a lot. Also, do not trade Achievement Tokens for Money Books. You're supposed to save up Tokens for other kinds of books. :)

2) Once you get a relocation order from govt level 5 (or before), use it to move to Dignant. Our league is based there; if you are not in Dignant, we can't help you when you get attacked. Also, when you do move, send your new coords to Remare in a mail.

3) We now have a sister league, Masaru-2, headed up by Jowell and Ohara. If Masaru is currently full, new members can go to Masaru-2.

4) We are officially allied with EVONY, Wu, Gaia, and Empire. I'm looking into adding their sister leagues at the moment, so the "no attack" goes for them too.

5) We now have an IRC chatroom, please check the League button in Kingory for more information. If you tried to get in before and didn't find us, I had the chatroom name incorrectly listed. :P The IRC chat is for easier chatting, and it also allows Masaru and Masaru-2 to share chat together. (You can download an IRC client to use, such as mirc for windows or colloquy for mac, instead of the website.)

6) Please remember to not swear in league chat and to keep sex talk/bashing/rudeness to a minimum. We have several young members to keep in mind, and it keeps things pleasant for everyone. :) If you do not heed the first warning to stop, you will be dismissed from the league.
